According to a Chinese tipster named ‘Smart Pikachu’ on Weibo, Oppo and OnePlus are rumored to be working on new smartphones with telephoto and macro cameras. While Oppo has already released a clamshell-style foldable phone with these camera features, OnePlus could potentially introduce a similar handset to compete with upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phones and Motorola’s Razr foldable handsets. Both companies have yet to officially announce their plans for new foldable phones.
It’s worth noting that OnePlus has previously launched the OnePlus Open, which was essentially a rebadged version of the Oppo Find N3. If Oppo decides to release the Find N5 Flip as the successor to the Find N3 Flip, OnePlus might also launch a flip foldable phone with similar specifications. This device could potentially rival the offerings from Motorola and Samsung.
The Oppo Find N3 Flip, which was launched in India in October last year, runs on Android 13-based ColorOS 13 out-of-the-box. It is powered by a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chip, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 inbuilt storage. The phone features a 6.8-inch LTPO AMOLED inner screen and a 3.26-inch AMOLED cover display.
Notably, the Find N3 Flip is currently the only clamshell-style foldable phone equipped with a triple rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, and a 332-megapixel telephoto camera. The device also boasts a 4,300mAh battery with 44W SuperVOOC charging support.
