Samsung has recently begun the rollout of One UI 6.1 to its flagship Galaxy smartphones from 2021 and 2022 in South Korea. This custom skin, based on Android 14, brings a range of improvements and AI features to the Galaxy S22 family, Galaxy S21 series, and previous foldable Galaxy phones. However, it’s worth noting that older smartphones may not receive the complete Galaxy AI suite. The One UI 6.1 update was initially announced in January alongside the launch of the Galaxy S24 series. In March, the update became available for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
According to various posts on Samsung community forums, the One UI 6.1 update is now being rolled out for the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 4. While the update is currently being released in South Korea, it is expected to reach other regions soon.
With this latest update, Samsung’s flagship S series and Z series phones from 2021 and 2022 gain access to Galaxy AI features. Users have shared the changelog, which suggests that older models like the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will only receive the Circle to Search feature as part of the One UI 6.1 update. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 appears to be receiving AI-generated wallpapers and generative AI-powered editing, among other features.
For users in South Korea, the update can be manually checked by going to Settings > Software update > Download and Install. It is recommended to update the smartphones while connected to a strong Wi-Fi network, as the update is quite large, with a size of approximately 3GB.
The Galaxy S24 family was introduced in January with One UI 6.1 already installed. Samsung began rolling out the update for the Galaxy S23 family, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and more in late March. It is expected that the update will soon be available for several other older devices, such as the Galaxy Tab S8 series.
