The Samsung Galaxy Ring was unveiled during the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10th. This innovative wearable smart ring from the South Korean technology giant comes equipped with various health and fitness tracking capabilities. Although initially thought to be exclusive to Galaxy smartphones, recent reports on social media indicate that it could also be compatible with other Android smartphones through the Galaxy Wearable app.
Samsung Galaxy Ring Compatibility
According to a social media post by YouTuber M. Brandon Lee, the Samsung Galaxy Ring is not limited to Samsung smartphones only. The post shared a video where the smart ring was connected to a Nothing smartphone using the Galaxy Wearables app. It seems that additional apps, such as Samsung Health, may need to be installed for full functionality.
The video showcases the smart ring’s features through the app’s user interface, displaying energy score, sleep, heart rate, and health settings. Users can also access more details about the ring, reset it, and update its software through the app. Additionally, there is a ‘Find my ring’ option visible, although its functionality remains uncertain.
Samsung’s FAQ section on the Galaxy Ring’s purchase page confirms compatibility with Samsung smartphones running on Android 11.0 or higher firmware. The device must also have at least 1.5GB RAM to work with the Galaxy Ring.
In a different update, industry expert Avi Greengart hinted in a social media post that the Galaxy Ring might eventually be compatible with iOS devices, although not initially. This suggests that iPhone models could be supported by the smart ring in the future.
